FIFA 15 Corner Kicks Tips

In this guide, I’m going to discuss various techniques involved in taking corner kicks and how to use them effectively.

Who Should Be Your Corner Taker?
The player taking the kick can be changed by pressing RT/R2 button on the consoles. Although it solely depends upon you to choose your kick taker, I would recommend keeping the tall players near the box since they are good with headers.

As for the kick taker, choose a player with decent power and shooting skills. Usually, players who are good at free kicks like Prilo, Ronaldo and Messi, etc will serve a better delivery.

The taking of a free kick occurs after a foul is committed. Many of the free kicks are taken directly where the shot is directed towards and into the goal without touching any player. Scoring of such direct free kicks takes great skills. Some of the finest exponents of this art are not all exactly among the greatest players of all times, but their contribution to the beautiful game just cannot be ignored. Some of their exploits are part of football folklore. The following are the 10 best free kick takers of all time.

One of the most dazzling players of the current generation, this Brazilian is also a free kick master. One of his memorable set piece moments was his hat-trick for Barcelona against Udinese more than a decade ago when all the goals came from direct free kicks. Who can forget his 40-yard looping free kick over the goal-keeper’s head that knocked England out of the 2002 World Cup. Currently at the age of 35 the 2002 World Cup champion is playing for Mexican club...

This is certainly a toughie! The best ones are Juninho, Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo. Out of which Ronaldo comes at a distant third, so it's between becksy & Juninho on who takes the honours..

First let me say about Juninho's kicks: This guy is an absolute wizard! His strength is Range and power. When I say Range, it means serious range dude! This guy can score even from freakin half line! Also at times he uses his swerving kicks as his secret weapon to confuse goalies since the ball moves in an unpredictable fashion. Word against him is that he scored them against weaker oponents in the league and couldn't repeat the feat often for his country.
This video is a true testament to his abilities.

Coming to Becksy's kicks: He wasn't so extra ordinary as Juninho, yet he was considered as the free kick master! Reason? He delivered when it mattered! Be it for England team or United, when they were staring down the barrels of defeat, he somehow gets a stunner and revives...

Welcome to the Champions League! We are in matchday 3 of the group stages and teams are starting to take things very seriously. There are some easy picks to make this week, and some not so easy picks to make. Before we dive into the content, I wanted to do some blatant self promotion. We just launched the soccer premium product on the DFS Marketplace where I’ve been able to offer just a bit more content than what you’ve been getting.

The good news is that we’re still offering the Grind Down free for both EPL and UCL, but if you’d like to find out what we’re offering in the Soccer package, check out the forum thread. As always, feel free to reach out to me with any questions you may have! good luck!

Bruges vs Porto

Club Bruges has been the weak link of this group so far having lost both their matches by a combined 7-0 scoreline and since they have failed to score so far this campaign, it’s hard to pin any hopes on them coming through against Porto...

A corner kick is a method of restarting play in a game of association football. It was devised in Sheffield under the 1867 Sheffield Rules. It was adopted by the Football Association on 17 February 1872.

A corner kick is awarded to the attacking team when the ball leaves the field of play by crossing the goal line (either on the ground or in the air) without a goal having been scored, having been last touched by a defending player. The kick is taken from the corners of the field of play nearest to where the ball crossed the goal line. Corners are considered to be a reasonable goalscoring opportunity for the attacking side, though not as much as a penalty kick or a direct free kick near the edge of the penalty area.

The assistant referee will signal that a corner should be awarded by first raising his flag, then using it to point at the corner arc on their side of the pitch; however, this is not an indication of which side the kick should be taken from. The referee...

You might be surprised to hear that the ratio of corners to goals is almost nil.

On average, the data show that a corner is good for (drumroll ....) 0.022 goals. This means that the average EPL team scores 1 goal from a corner about every 10 games. And this helps to explain the lack of a correlation between the number of corners and goal scoring. The infrequency of the goals from corners combined with a lack of dispersion between teams in corners per game lead conspire to make corners mostly, well, useless when it comes to scoring goals.

In this sample of matches, Fulham and Arsenal led the league in converting corner-created shots into goals at a rate of over .25, while at the low end, none of the shots created by Sunderland, Man City, Bolton, or Birmingham found the net.

In association football, an assist is a contribution by a player which helps to score a goal. Statistics for assists made by players may be kept officially by the organisers of a competition, or unofficially by, for example, journalists or organisers of fantasy football competitions. Recording assists is not part of the official Laws of the Game and the criteria for an assist to be awarded may vary. Record of assists was virtually not kept at all until the end of the 20th century, although reports of matches commonly described a player as having "made" one or more goals. Since the 1990s, some leagues have kept official record of assists and based awards on them.

Criteria[edit]

Most commonly, an assist is credited to a player for passing or crossing the ball to the scorer. It may also be awarded to a player whose shot rebounds (off a defender, goalkeeper or goalpost) to a teammate who scores. Some systems may credit an assist to a player who wins a penalty kick or...

The Corner Kick

The corner kick, which occurs when the ball passes over the defending player's goal line, with a defender having touched the ball last.

The corner kick acts as a direct free kick taken from the corner of the pitch (if the ball passes the line on the left of the goal, the corner is taken from the left corner and if it passes on the right, the corner is taken from the right corner).

The same rules as for a direct free kick apply, in that opposing players must be at least 9.15 meters away from the corner. The corner taker may score directly can't play the ball a second time until it's touched by another player.

The only additional rule is that the ball be placed in the corner arc.

It may seem simple when you know it, but the rules governing where the ball can go on and off the soccer pitch are certainly not obvious.

As long as it is within the sidelines and goal lines — which form the rectangle of the field — players can control the ball with any part of their bodies except their arms. Within their respective penalty areas, the goalkeepers can also use their hands. For more on the areas of the field, click here.

When the ball leaves the field of play any one of three things can happen:

The Throw In

If the ball leaves the field along one of the touch lines — the two longest lines that run parallel to the goal lines — it is put back into play with a throw in. The throw in is awarded to whichever team did not touch the ball last before it went out.

To perform a legal throw in, a player must keep both feet on the ground behind the touchline near the spot where the ball went out and begin the throw...

A corner kick is a method for restarting a soccer game and is awarded your team when the ball is out of play.

44 Secrets for Playing Great Soccer

The Ultimate Guide to Soccer Positions

For example: Let's say that you are playing a soccer match and are on your way to shoot the ball at opponent's goal.

Just before the ball find its way into the net, the opponent's goalkeeper touches the ball and you see the ball flying outside the soccer field.

I know, it's really frustrating, I don't score often but when the goalkeeper makes the save of century on my shoot then I am wondering if it's just bad luck or am I a poor soccer player.

I think it's the first one! Yea sure, you think...

Awarding

A corner kick will be awarded to your team anytime an opponent player kicks the ball over the goal line (either the ball is rolling on the ground or flying in the air :-).

The line referee will use his/her flag to signal that your team...
