How do teams progress to the 2nd stage in case of same points?

As you say “a tournament”, be aware that different competitions use different rules for tie breaking. When you mention FIFA, the tournaments organized directly by FIFA use the rules described by Dor Cohen; e.g. the official FIFA World Cup 2014 Regulations state in rule 49, paragraph 5:

The ranking of each team in each group shall be determined as follows:

a) greatest number of points obtained in all group matches; b) goal difference in all group matches; c) greatest number of goals scored in all group matches.

If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings shall be determined as follows:

d) greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned; e) goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned; f) greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned; g) drawing of lots by the FIFA Organising Committee.

However, UEFA (the...

If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied in the order given to determine their rankings: a. higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question; b. superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question; c. higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question; d. higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question; e. if, after having applied criteria a) to d), teams still have an equal ranking, criteria a) to d) are reapplied exclusively to the matches between the teams in question to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria f) to l) apply; f. superior goal difference in all...

The main reason is if soccer is a big part of the culture of the country. For example, in Argentina, it's extremely rare to find a person who havent played soccer in his whole life. It's common for most men to play every week with friends, and in its childhoold to spend vacations playing 8,10,12 hours per day. They (we) also have great examples to follow, such as Alfredo Di Stefano, Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, they make us believe that we can be the best in the world and the best in the history of soccer as they were / are

I wouldnt place the amount of people in a country as a reason which influences in a similar level than the reason first mentioned. For example, Uruguay (which is a country with 3 millions inhabitants) have won 2 World Cups and 15 Copa America, it's one of the 2 countries with most international titles, they have golden foots winners such as Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez, top level players. Other countries such as China and India with over 1300 and 1200...

Every team goes through the five stages of team development. First, some background on team development. The first four stages of team growth were first developed by Bruce Wayne Tuckman and published in 1965.

His theory, called "Tuckman's Stages" was based on research he conducted on team dynamics. He believed (as is a common belief today) that these stages are inevitable in order for a team to grow to the point where they are functioning effectively together and delivering high quality results.

In 1977, Tuckman, jointly with Mary Ann Jensen, added a fifth stage to the 4 stages: "Adjourning." The adjourning stage is when the team is completing the current project. They will be joining other teams and moving on to other work in the near future. For a high performing team, the end of a project brings on feelings of sadness as the team members have effectively become as one and now are going their separate ways.

The five stages:

Stage 1: Forming Stage 2:...

Progress is all about how to control the project and know where you are against the current plan. Each company and Project Manager will have different ideas on how best to do this. If you are Project Manager in a company the one good question to ask your Project Board is “How do I best keep you informed of the progress of the project?" The answer to this question will tell you a lot about the maturity of project control in the organization.

The most important points that a Project Manager has to keep in mind are:

The format of reports used to provide information to the Project Board. How best to keep track of issues, changes and risks. How to check that the Business Case is still valid etc. Constantly check the current progress compared to the current plan.

Most poor Project Managers make the following mistakes:

Don’t have a good system in place to track progress. Feel...

Everybody says they want Alabama. Then they get the Crimson Tide and reality sets in: These guys are almost impossible to beat.

Alabama is in the College Football Playoff for the third straight season, the only school that can make that claim. And as good as Alabama has been through an unprecedented run of four national titles in seven seasons, this version of the top-ranked Tide might be the best of all.

The Huskies are a resurgent bunch, in contention for a national title for the first time in decades, with a coach who has a reputation for pulling off upsets. Ohio State fans have every reason to believe the Buckeyes can take down the Tide — Urban Meyer's team did just that in the first playoff semifinals.

Deshaun Watson and the Tigers went toe-to-toe with the Tide in last season's championship game.

Coach Nick Saban's crew of former blue-chip recruits and future NFL players is unbeaten, but are they unbeatable? A case for each of the teams in the...

In the following conversation between Buck and Juan, Juan explains to Buck what happens in the football World Cup.

From the context, try to guess what the meaning of the words/phrases in bold are. Then do the quiz at the end to check if you are right.

Buck:'Are you going to be watching the World Cup this year?'

Juan:'Of course I am. My team Spain is playing in it. Hasn't your team qualified for the World Cup as well?'

Buck:'Yes, the United States is playing. But I don't expect us to win any games, we are not a very good team. In the last game, we played against England and we lost by 5 goals.'

Juan:'I remember, the final score was England 5 the United States 0. Buck, we don't normally say game in football, we normally call it a match.'

Buck:'I'm American, so I don't know a lot about soccer. That's what we call football in America. So what happens in a World Cup?'

Juan:'It's a tournament where 32 national teams try to win the...

Project planning is one of the pivotal elements in the project management process.

How each individual team interprets the goals to be achieved, is a direct representation of the level of clarity incorporated in the project plan. Especially when it comes to a test project, inaccurate project planning can have a serious implication on the test execution of the system under test and on the overall quality of the product as a whole.

In this test project planning tutorial we will learn

The overall project planning process in testing projects Discussion on certain specific planning elements such as resource management, coordination and reporting techniques

Test planning process

Here below, is a walk-through of the various stages in the test planning process, discussed concisely.

Stage #1: Review and analyze the requirements

This is the first step for any project and plays a very important role in any testing project.

While...

I have to disagree. I think it is key to the process to have a team focused on a single project during a sprint. If you have some specialists that can't contribute to the entire development process (content authors, graphics people, business process analysts, etc.) I would shuffle them off the team when they can no longer contribute. Or better yet, get them trained up on some different tasks so they can contribute to things like testing.

Another thing to keep in mind is that running projects in parallel kills your schedule. Consider this: for simplicities sake, lets say we have 5 projects using the same team and starting on the same date. Each project needs 3 one months of effort, In the best case scenario running parallel, you will finish them all at once and it will take 15 months. Your velocity will get creamed because you can only fit 1/5 of a month of effort in a single sprint. You'll also be doing 5 demo meetings all at the same time. So best case scenario, you deliver...

With the group stages of the CS:GO Champions League done and dusted, things once again reverted to normalcy as far as the standings were concerned. Team Virtus.Pro.CS from Poland, who had lost their number one spot to Natus Vincere, used their advantage of having played lesser matches than their counterparts from Ukraine to take the number one spot. As we mentioned earlier, Natus Vincere, although unbeaten in the group stages, went to the top of the table simply because Virtus.Pro.CS had played a lesser number of matches. Therefore, once the team from Poland played out their allotted number of matches, the number one spot was once again retained by the Poles. At the end of the group stages, the points table portrayed the following picture:

No.1: Virtus.Pro.CS with 17 points (9 matches played, 5 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses). No.2: Natus Vincere with 15 points (9 matches played, 3 wins, 6 draws, and 0 losses). No.3: HR.CS with 14 points (9 matches played, 4 wins, 2 draws, and 3...

Complexity describes the behaviour of a system or model whose components interact in multiple ways and follow local rules, meaning there is no reasonable higher instruction to define the various possible interactions.[1]

The stem of the word complexity i.e. Complex is composed of the Latin words com (meaning: "together") and plex (meaning: woven). This is best contrasted with Complicated where plic (meaning: folded) refers to many layers. A complex system is thereby characterised by its inter-dependencies, where as a complicated system is characterised by its layers.

Complexity is generally used to characterize something with many parts where those parts interact with each other in multiple ways, culminating in a higher order of emergence greater than the sum of its parts. Just like there is no absolute definition of "intelligence", there is no absolute definition of "complexity"; the only consensus among researchers is that there is no agreement about the specific...

By Thunder Athletics on December 21, 2016

This past weekend the Team Canada Women's Deaf Volleyball squad traveled from across Canada to train in Edmonton and play two matches against the Concordia Thunder Women's Volleyball team. This was a great opportunity for both teams to play before the Christmas break and work on some skill development for all players.
In Friday's match, the Thunder played some great side out volleyball and with some strong backrow play by everyone, won in four sets with scores of 25-21, 25-20, 20-25 and 25-21. In Saturday's match, both teams played some exciting rallies and pushed each other to compete but in the end the Thunder prevailed in four sets with scores of 25-15, 18-25, 25-18 and 25-20.
Head Coach Trever Turner had this to say on the weekend's event: "Overall we played well considering the ladies had finals during this time and we have not trained over the past couple of weeks. It was a great opportunity to get some of the ladies...

The goal of most research on group development is to learn why and how small groups change over time. To do this, researchers examine patterns of change and continuity in groups over time. Aspects of a group that might be studied include the quality of the output produced by a group, the type and frequency of its activities, its cohesiveness, the existence of group conflict.

A number of theoretical models have been developed to explain how certain groups change over time. Listed below are some of the most common models. In some cases, the type of group being considered influenced the model of group development proposed as in the case of therapy groups. In general, some of these models view group change as regular movement through a series of "stages", while others view them as "phases" that groups may or may not go through and which might occur at different points of a group's history. Attention to group development over time has been one of the differentiating factors...
