Is World XI a full member of ICC

The International Cricket Council (ICC) was founded at Lord's on 15 June 1909 as the Imperial Cricket Conference,[1] with Australia, England, and South Africa as its founding members. In the beginning, only countries within the commonwealth could join.[2] These members were then joined by India, New Zealand, and the West Indies in 1926 and later by Pakistan in 1953.[3] In 1961, South Africa resigned due to their leaving the Commonwealth.[3] The Imperial Cricket Conference was renamed the International Cricket Conference in 1965 with new rules permitting countries from outside the Commonwealth to be elected into the governing body for the first time.[2] Any new member elected to the governing body could only be an Associate Member with the possibility of being promoted to a Full Member. The first Associates were Fiji and the USA.[2] In 1989, the ICC was again renamed, this time to International Cricket Council.[2] South Africa was reelected as a Full Member to the ICC in 1991 and...

Pakistani cricketer and captain of Pakistan All Stars Shahid Afridi (L), carries the trophy with International World XI captain Sanath Jayasuriya (R) and Mohammad Ali Shah, Pakistani sports minister for Sindh province (C) during a ceremony in Karachi on October 19, 2012

Karachi - Former ICC chief, Ehsan Mani, says this weekend’s international cricket matches in Pakistan will boost the country’s reputation as a viable host for international cricket but would not be enough to convince Test teams to play in the country.

Three former West Indies players – bowlers Adam Sanford and Jermaine Lawson and batsman Ricardo Powell – have been included in a World X1 to play a Pakistan all-stars X1 in two Twenty/20 matches at the Karachi national stadium Saturday and Sunday, CMC reports.

There has been no international cricket in Pakistan since March 2009, when the Sri Lankan team bus was attacked.

“I do not think that these matches will have an immediate impact in...

Martin Williamson spoke to Matthew Kennedy, the ICC's Global Development Manager, about the six countries who will be able to play full ODIs from January 1 and the effect this will have on the international game

What happens on January 1 and how does the ODI world change?
From January 1 2006, the ICC has approved that the top six Associates of Kenya, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Bermuda and the Netherlands will all have ODI match status whenever they play each other or a Full member.

In that respect, as well as the Associate vs Associate ODIs which these teams will play in Regional ICC events and bi-laterally arrange around Intercontinental Cup fixtures and the like, the ICC is working together with all Full members to create a schedule of Full member vs Associate member ODIs within the current draft six-year International cricket schedule which is being considered. This has specifically concentrated on the first three years (from May 1 2006 to April 30 2009 and...

Since assuming office in late 2012, Chinese President Xi Jinping has quickly consolidated power. He has launched a sweeping anti-corruption campaign, reorganized the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), and tightened controls over media and the Internet — as well as cultivating a cult of personality. Xi’s name has appeared in ruling Communist Party publications with greater frequency that his two most recent predecessors. References to Xi as China’s “core” leader imply a status similar to that of former paramount leader Deng Xiaoping. Songs and videos — some grassroots, some officially commissioned — praising Xi have even gone viral online. In this ChinaFile conversation, experts discuss why Xi has worked to create a cult of personality, and how this may affect Chinese politics in the future.

Jiayang Fan, editorial staff at the New Yorker:

It is evident from his first three years in office that Xi’s top priority is to legitimize his authority and rejuvenate the Communist...

Daisy-cutter -- See Shooter.

Dead ball -- When the ball is not in play, it is said to be 'dead'. The ball comes into play when the bowler starts his run-up, and becomes automatically dead when the umpire considers it to have 'finally settled' in the hands of the wicket-keeper or bowler, when a wicket falls, or when the ball reaches the boundary or when the umpire calls 'over' or 'time'. The umpire may call the ball dead at other times - for example, when the ball lodges in the batsman's clothing, or when a serious injury occurs to a player.

Declaration -- The decision of the batting captain to close his innings. Usually made in order to give his bowlers time to bowl the other side out to win the match, or delayed by twenty crucial minutes while the side's senior player struggles from 96 to 100.

Declaration bowler -- Inept bowler employed to allow the batting side to score quickly, usually in the hope of contriving a result...

No one, not even President Barack Obama, has done more to make the United States welcome in Asia than Chinese President Xi Jinping. Since 2012, Xi’s foreign policy has unraveled years of careful efforts on China’s part to persuade its Asian neighbors of the “win-win” benefits of China’s peaceful rise. Under Xi, Beijing has suffered a series of diplomatic setbacks so counterproductive that they raise serious questions about his foreign-policy competence.

A brief review of the past three years shows a remarkable string of failures and foreign-policy defeats. The Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague on July 12th nullified China’s “Nine-Dash Line,” which is the basis for Beijing’s claim to disputed islets and reefs, and 85 percent of the South China Sea, as sovereign Chinese territory. This was a body blow, undoing a major pillar of Chinese foreign policy toward the rest of Asia. The ruling was a troubling metaphor, undermining the smiley-face image China has sought to...

Rewards Reins of the Icebound Frostbrood Vanquisher. A whitish coloured Armoured Frostwyrm mount that flies at 310%.

Comment by Dradee

I have been wondering a little. When Ulduar was released, the mount rewards from Glory of the Raider 10 and 25 man were removed. Now, when Icecrown Citadel has been released, the mount rewards from Glory of the Ulduar Raider 10 and 25 man have not been removed and are still available.
