Shuttle getting stuck to the net after crossing

Badminton, prominently known as Shuttlecock, is an age old game that has its origin about 2000 years ago in parts of Europe and Asia. Badminton was mostly played by the higher society of England as a pastime and the game was mostly practiced by hitting the shuttlecock forward and backward. Rules similar to that of today’s Badminton were written in 1893 and the modern game was popularized in England.

Badminton as battledore and shuttlecock is played with sides across a string suspended some five feet above the ground. The sport tests player’s athletic stamina, agility and good motor coordination skills.

The objective of badminton is similar to that of other racket games. This game can be played in three variants; singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. A shuttle cock is shot with a wired metal rimmed racket across the net, called a serve, to player(s) on the other side of the court who try to send it back.

Each player tries to land the shuttle...

Shuttle Update

The shuttle launch was scrubbed today… It is postponed three more days. What a bummer! But these things happen… I’ll wait it out.

Daily Photo – Big Ben at Dusk

Halfway through the PhotoWalk in London, we stopped here at Big Ben to get a shot. It’s a little tough for me sometimes to do this while on a PhotoWalk because I can’t fully focus on the photography. I have to talk, explain, converse,...

Obstructions and distractions13.4
[It shall be a fault] if in play, a player:
obstructs an opponent, i.e. prevents an opponent from making a legal stroke where the shuttle is followed over the net;
deliberately distracts an opponent by any action such as shouting or making gestures;Remember that you are allowed to follow-through with your racket over the net, providing you made contact on your side. If your opponent obstructs...

The NASA Space Shuttle was the world's first operational space plane capable of reaching orbit. It was operated from 1981 to 2011 on a total of 135 missions during which two orbiters, Challenger and Columbia, were lost in accidents.

The Shuttle launch system components include the Orbiter Vehicle (OV), a pair of solid rocket boosters (SRBs) and the external tank (ET) containing the liquid hydrogen and oxygen fuel for the engines of the orbiter. Of these, only the external tank is expendable; the SRBs splash into the sea shortly after launch and are recovered, and the orbiter itself returns to a landing site where it lands like an airplane.

The mixture of a rocket-like launch, a spacecraft-like near ballistic early atmospheric phase and an airplane like approach and landing makes the Space Shuttle a truly unique flying experience.

The aim of the Shuttle Project is to create a highly realistic simulation of the capabilities of the...

according to EW.

Many critics also hailed the film, which centers around characters being set adrift in space. But some in the science community have taken exception to some of the facts presented.

Neil deGrasse Tyson

took to Twitter over the weekend to offer several "Mysteries of #Gravity," including "The film #Gravity should be renamed 'Angular...

The burglar who got stuck in the vents

Trapped in an air shaft and screaming for help, a grease-covered burglar was rescued after he got caught in the duct as he tried to break into a pizza parlor. It took nearly 30 minutes to free a recently paroled burglar who was trapped in a ventilation duct and screaming for help as he dangled over a deep fryer at Paesan's Pizza. Timothy J. Cipriani was covered in grease when they rescued him from the too-tight air duct at the 2513 Guilderland Ave restaurant. A second person may have been involved but disappeared from the scene before officers arrived. Cipriani, 46, was charged with burglary and possession of burglar tools after police said they found the lower half of his body swinging above the still-hot fryer at 1 a.m. Cipriani broke into the building by scaling a nearby tree and cracking into the air ducts from the roof with a hammer. In his mugshot, Cipriani's face, white T-shirt and jeans were coated in grease and...

Yes, it makes a difference whether it's the serve or in general play.

These rules only apply if the shuttle at least gets to the top of the net (or over it) before becoming stuck. If you hit it too low and it gets stuck in the middle of the net without going over first, that's a fault and you lose the point.

It shall be a ‘fault’:

13.2 if, in service, the shuttle:

13.2.1 is caught on the net and remains suspended on its top; 13.2.2 after passing over the net, is caught in the net; or 13.2.3 is hit by the receiver’s partner;

14.2 It shall be a ‘let”, if:

14.2.3 after the service is returned, the shuttle is: caught on the net and remains suspended on its top, or after passing over the net is caught in the...

Drivers are putting themselves at risk, with two cars in as many days becoming stuck at a notorious crossing of the crocodile-infested East Alligator River, Northern Territory police have warned.

A Great Wall vehicle that did not have four-wheel drive capabilities was today washed off the road at Cahill's Crossing, where several cars are left stranded each year when trying to drive across the East Alligator River after it has swollen from heavy rain.

While the vehicle was found in the swollen river, the occupants were not.

"Police have since established there were four people on board the vehicle at the time and they were picked up by a passing motorist and returned to Gunbalanya," NT Police said on their Facebook page.

The gates at Cahill's Crossing were closed after the incident.

Cahill's Crossing, which joins Kakadu with Arnhem Land, is well known as a home to dozens of crocodiles who "guard the river crossing",...

A 62-year-old Victorian tourist has become the latest to get stuck at Kakadu's notorious Cahill's Crossing, after locals wanting a lift convinced him his vehicle could make it through the crocodile-infested stretch of water.

Key points:

Locals ask tourist for lift across Cahill's Crossing, saying it's safe to cross Car swept off 10 metres into the crossing Locals whisked away in waiting car while tourist left stranded

The driver was at the Crossing, which joins Kakadu with Arnhem Land, yesterday about 5:00pm when he was approached by two women and a man who lived locally and told him that he and the caravan he was towing could cross the waterway, a statement from NT Police said.

"The tourist initially declined as he rightfully thought his vehicle and caravan would not make it through," the statement said.

"The male asked again and assured the tourist that the vehicle was more than capable of completing the crossing if he...

If you enjoy reading about badminton, then why not sign up to have my latest articles sent to your mailbox?

The official badminton rules (as of May 2006, when the gamed switched from 15 points to 21 point rally scoring) are found here: This page also links to a complete historical archive of the rules – so you can check the rules which were adopted in 1873 in the Punjab if you wish! (These rules look pretty familiar – very much like the pre-2006 play to 15 points rules, but in the good old days if the shuttlecock hit the net you lost the point automatically whether it went over or not).

If you’re not sure how the 21 point rally scoring works then there’s a detailed explanation at For the traditionalists among you, for the old, 15 point scoring rules, best use the 1992 rules.

What happened between 1992 and 2006? There were experiments with alternatives such as...

Stella's Tomb Raider 2013 Walkthrough - For Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360

NOTE: Combat strategy is based on the Medium difficulty setting, so your experience may vary slightly. In addition to the walkthroughs for each level, there are separate pages for Controls & Gameplay Tips, Skill & Weapon Upgrades, and Collectible Items.

SAVING AND CHECKPOINTS: Like the last several games, TOMB RAIDER uses autosave checkpoints. Whenever you pass a checkpoint, the game is saved automatically. Then, if Lara dies or you quit the game and restart, the game reloads at the last checkpoint. If you only rely on one autosave, you may run into trouble if you get stuck in the game, encounter a bug, or if your autosave file becomes corrupted. To avoid problems, I highly recommend changing your save slot at least once each level. You may also want to periodically back up your autosaves on a memory card (consoles) or into a separate folder (PC). See the controls page for...

A glitch is a program error in any piece of software, including the Animal Crossing series. They can be beneficial or harmful, but no glitch is purposefully put in a game.

Levitation Glitch

When the player grabs an item off the ground, it loses gravity. However, this can not be seen because the player is always on the ground. To perform this glitch, the player will need to be on a slope. Pick up any item off the ground, then while the player is doing a picking up animation, get pushed down the slope by a villager or ball. The player stays in mid-air for a few seconds. It is also possible to make villagers levitate if the player pushes them down a slope after hitting them with a net.
